An Orifice Plate is a plate type device used for measuring the flow rate. The orifice plate is installed between a set of ansi / asme b16.36 orifice flanges or a metering unit, the small bore in the orifice plate restricts the flow and thus creates a differential pressure across the orifice plate, which can be measured using pressure gauges. Given the pressure before and after the orifice plate, flow rate can be then determined using the Bernoulli's equation. The accuracy of the measurement depends largely on the quality of the orifice plates.
