An Orifice Plate is a plate type device used for measuring the flow rate. The orifice plate is installed between a set of ansi / asme b16.36 orifice flanges or a metering unit, the small bore in the orifice plate restricts the flow and thus creates a differential pressure across the orifice plate, which can be measured using pressure gauges. Given the pressure before and after the orifice plate, flow rate can be then determined using the Bernoulli's equation. The accuracy of the measurement depends largely on the quality of the orifice plates.

ASME B16.47 Series B Flanges

ASME B16.47 Series B covers Pipeline Flanges from 26" through 48" in 5 different pressure class designation; Class 150, Class 300, Class 400, Class 600 & Class 900. ASME B16,47 Series B is an extension of Series A with sizes above 24". This specification is designed for Weld Neck type and Blind type flanges from NPS 26 to NPS 48 and for pressure class 150 lbs through 900 lbs. Dimension of ASME B16.47 Series B Flanges are also reflected in API 605 standard from Class 150 through Class 900.
